Music Makers

Music Makers: Mrs Alison Baxter, Associate Conductor

This is a training choir for children who are in P3 & P4.

In Music Makers we continue with singing games and warm up activities, consolidating and building on what has been done in the Wee Music Makers. Through all of the activities children develop their singing, learn about music, musical performance and about being a member of a choir. Music Makers use music, moving on from a simple melodic line and words to more challenging repertoire. This is carefully introduced to enable children to become more familiar with reading music.

The children prepare and rehearse music for the three concerts each year; the repertoire is diverse and the aim is to have children singing with a good unison sound and to introduce some simple part singing.

Rehearsals are on Thursdays from 4:30pm to 5:15pm in the Music Institute next to Carnegie Hall. P4s are invited, after the first week, to stay for an extra 15 minutes to further develop their musicianship skills.
