Pianist, Accompanist and Repetiteur
Gina Baker is a much sought-after accompanist and repetiteur in Scotland and northern England. She graduated with a BMus(Hons) degree from the University of Edinburgh in 2011, and a Masters in Music Performance from the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in 2013. While studying, she was also the student repetiteur for WNO’s Youth Opera and enjoyed masterclasses with a number of leading accompanists and vocal coaches.
Gina works as an accompanist for a number of choirs, and has been with Dunfermline Junior Chorus since 2014. She is also an accompanist for NYCoS, Douglas Academy Music School, the Scottish Brass Band Association and performs regularly for Music in Hospitals. Gina undertook the Continuing Education repetiteur course at RCS and spent the summer of 2016 in Italy with the conductor and director of Washington National Opera. She is also repetiteur for Edinburgh Grand Opera and Rocket Opera in Berwick.
Accompanist – Music Makers
Carol studied at Northern College, Aberdeen where she gained a Degree in Teaching and a LGSM in Piano teaching.
Carol started her career working for Edinburgh Council as an Instrumental Teacher of Woodwind before moving into the classroom in 1984. During her time in Edinburgh, Carol sang with the Bach Choir and Edinburgh Festival Chorus.
Carol has been Principal Teacher of Performing Arts (Music and Drama) at Beath High School since 2009.
Carol is also heavily involved working for SQA as a Visiting Assessor, Item Writer, Item Checker and a Team Leader for Higher Music.
Carol started working as accompanist to the Music Makers in 2015 and thoroughly enjoys this role. She says “There is nothing more rewarding than seeing those bright eyed, enthusiastic children experiencing the power of singing. It does so much for their confidence”.
